What instructions should you receive after new concrete?

Discuss the handover before work starts

Ask what instructions the provider supplies for protecting the new surface, maintaining the specified curing approach and managing access. Explain how people, vehicles and furniture normally use the area. The timing and method depend on the project and conditions; a general guide cannot give permission to load or use a particular slab.

Separate different types of use

Request clear instructions for foot traffic, furniture, vehicles and other expected loads. Ask who confirms that the relevant milestone has been reached. Do not assume that a surface which looks dry is ready for every use. If access must be maintained, discuss a safe temporary arrangement as part of project planning.

Clarify care and responsibility

Ask whether coatings, sealers or decorative treatments have separate care requirements and who applies or maintains them. Establish which tasks belong to you and which belong to the installer. Keep the instructions with the written scope and actual warranty documents rather than relying on a verbal instruction remembered after the pour.

Know whom to contact about concerns

Ask how to report visible changes, damage or questions during the handover period and what records are useful. Photograph safely without entering a work area. A provider must assess the actual condition before recommending corrective work; this website cannot diagnose concrete, prescribe a design or promise an outcome.

Prepare the relevant installation assessment.

Prepare the address, intended residential use, approximate dimensions and access details. Ask about assessment charges and availability before arranging a visit.
